Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine, a Philadelphia native was raised and born in the city. Pam her mother has been a backup singer in the past at Philadelphia International Records. At the age of five, old, her father landed an appointment as the curator for Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the historical landmark. In 2005 she was a graduate of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts as a vocal music major. Sullivan sang as a contralto for the youth choir, and after a couple of years later, she was a singer in the adult choir. Sullivan received little exposure to secular music. She recalls that she was in her 11th year when someone asked her to sing solos in church. However, she was not fully ready. "Then the time came that McDonald's had a competition for students in big cities, I got a chance to sing 'Accept What God Gives' on Showtime on the Apollo and the audience was very enthusiastic". She was just 13 when she sang alongside Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday celebration. Sullivan was 15 when she, was first signed to Jive Records. It was her first time signing with Jive Records in the year fifteen. She produced an entire album. The album was never released. Sullivan was ultimately dropped from the label. The singer had a great working relationship and Missy Elliott. Elliott produced some of her tracks and tracks, such as "Backstabbers", which was produced by Timbaland.
